Why Pursue More Business Connections in South Florida?
Connecting is for closers. Whether you live in Dade, Broward, Palm Beach or some other South Florida county, the fact still remains, those who connect with new customers on a regular basis close more sales. If you don’t choose to connect with potential clients, you eventually choose to disconnect your sales performance. But what do we mean when we use the word “connecting” as it relates to increasing sales performance? In our context, connecting means to establish relevant communication with new customers. It means to be in direct contact with those whom you do not know on a regular basis.
Closing involves getting out of your comfort zone and being intentional about expanding your influence by growing your customer base. When you deliberately and regularly connect with new customers, your opportunity for success can only lead in one direction, upwards. If you don’t connect with new customers, you chose to disconnect from increasing your sales performance and influence within the business community.
Connecting means to establish relevant communication with new customers.
The word “relevant” is very important within this phrase. Your communication strategy to connect with new customers must be exceptionally relevant. If you’re trying to connect with new customers by sending out hundreds of faxes to a warehouse district in Hialeah, leaving flyers on windshields throughout the Coconut Grove, or standing on the corner of a busy intersection in Sunrise and waving a large banner, you’re in trouble. That may work if you’re a local restaurant with daily lunch specials, but it won’t work with the customer you need to reach to make your business plan. We need to reevaluate our approach and we need to do it quickly.
Customers are moving in a new direction and we need to make sure our pace and our methods keep up with where they’re headed and the tools they use to get there. Customers have erected new platforms for conducting business, namely global platforms.
These global platforms are where they hire staff, look for business partners and interact with colleagues and vendors. Over the next few blogs, we will analyze three platforms for effectively connecting with new customers: Contacts, Local Organizations and Technology. Although each of these does not necessarily represent a global platform, their local relevance is worth noting for the purposes of our study.
Your communication strategy to connect must be exceptionally relevant.
You need to establish a different kind of direct contact when it comes to growing your business. You need to explore a variety of environments where new customers can be found. An environment where business to business exchange is promoted and encouraged is very important for direct contact to flourish. To do this; however, you need to start by changing your present environment.
Effective networking environments produce effective sales results.
Why is this so important? Why so much emphasis on new environments? Simply put, effective networking environments produce strong sales results. Since you need to spend your time within environments that stimulate new business opportunities, does it not make good sense to find some of the most effective environments for you to invest your time in?
Whether you chose to connect with business professionals in the Doral, Miami Beach, Aventura, Miramar, Deerfield Beach or Pembroke Pines, make sure the environment and your approach is relevant to your customer. Start finding more customers in South Florida by sharpening your approach. Don't just sit back and expect business to come knocking at your door. Go out and start expanding your contacts. If you don't, your competition will be more than happy to do so.
Good selling!

The ABC's to an Effective Sales Call
The ABC’s of an Effective Sales Call
Most of us have made this mistake at one time or another. A customer with significant opportunity unexpectedly comes to mind. The customer is a national account with offices in Miami, Miramar, Austin, Atlanta, Fort lauderdale, Los Angeles, Houston and Orlando. We impulsively pick up the phone without hesitation, and to our surprise, we get the customer on the phone. That sounds like great news, right? Wrong! It’s terrible news, because we’re simply not prepared for the call. We need to plan every phone call and make each one count.
If you want to convert more business, you have to differentiate yourself by developing a solid plan for each contact, whether in person, through e-mail or by telephone. So how do we accomplish this? How do we sharpen our approach without leaving room for a thunderous silence? How do we deliberately increase sales performance without adding an extra thirty hours to our schedule? How do we make a memorable difference with each and every customer once we decide to contact them directly? I would like to suggest implementing the ABC’s of an Effective Sales Call to help you with this endeavor.
Aim
The first thing you want to help your customer clearly understand is, “Why are you calling them?” In other words, what is your intention? What are you shooting at? What are you trying to accomplish? Some would call this first phase the purpose or the point of the call. I can’t overstate this enough. If you want a clear return, you have to make a clear delivery. Make your aim explicitly clear and make it very early in your call. You want your message to stick, so you need to state your intention early and use it as a foundation to move towards the next phase of your call.
Benefit
The second phase of your sales call needs to help your customer answer the question, “How is this going to help my business grow?” During the delivery of your initial message, most customers quickly begin asking themselves, “What’s in it for me, my employees, my staff? What will this event, activity or proposed action do for me right now? How will this help us reach more customers? Will this make a significant difference for my business and is it really worth my time?” At a minimum, your benefit statement should be clear, concise and memorable. If your customer can describe how your solution will help their business grow, you’re definitely on the right path. This leads us to the final phase for an effective sales call.
Course
Once your customer understands the aim and the benefit to their business, you’re ready to begin paving the road for them to follow. Course has to do with clarifying the steps involved or the process required to realize the benefits promised. Course answers the question, “How do we get there?” It involves outlining a clear path and serving as a guide to help the customer safely arrive. When you smoothly transition from one phase to another, the chances of increasing your sales performance dramatically increases. As a best practice, write out what you plan to say beforehand and rehearse the script a few times prior to your call. Have a plan for every sales call and work every plan.

Speak to Build
There are few things that are as influential to a growing marriage as the words we choose to use in our daily conversations with our spouse. Our words are powerful, very powerful. We can use our words to build up one another or to destroy one another. Why not choose to speak words that strengthen your marriage and build up your spouse rather than use discouraging, divisive or destructive words? Everyday you have a choice to make regarding the communication you use with your spouse.
Be intentional about using words that encourage, unify and make your relationship stronger. You might ask, “But how do you do I this?” There are five factors to consider when communicating to build up your spouse: Strategy, Perseverance, Effort, Attitude and Knowledge. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. (Romans 14:19, NIV)
Strategy
Every good marriage has a strategy. Speaking to build up your spouse requires careful planning and unselfish consideration. Whether you’re aware of it or not, your words are taking your spouse somewhere. They’re either leading your spouse to experience stress, pain and sorrow or hope, confidence and harmony. Why not purposely develop a strategy that leads you to the right destination?
Why not deliberately create an environment where both of you regularly deliver words that are mutually beneficial to one another? Choose to give to one another rather than take from one another. Imagine how this strategy would impact the culture of your home? Whenever you have an opportunity to talk with your spouse, speak to build! If you can’t speak to build them up, you’re better off remaining silent. You have to make a strong determination to purposely build your marriage with the words that you use. Choose today to speak to build! Don’t make up excuses, don’t point the finger and don’t worry about what others might say. When you choose to speak to build, over time, you’ll benefit from observing the rewards within your marriage.
Perseverance
Every good marriage demonstrates perseverance. It takes perseverance to build a great marriage. Although the Empire State Building took only one year and 45 days to build, it involved at least 7 million man hours. (www.esbnyc.com). From Cornerstone to Dedication, the Washington Monument took 36 years to build. Construction began in 1848 and ended in 1884 (www.wikianswers.com). The Great Wall of China was built and rebuilt over a period of several hundred years. With each of these great structures, perseverance was demonstrated at different levels during their construction. Some of these structures were delayed in their completion for various reasons. In the end, the work persevered until the job was completed.
Communicate words of perseverance and commitment into your marriage. For your marriage to thrive, you have to endure the difficult storms life brings your way. If your marriage faces a financial, physical or personal storm, the best way to find shelter and tackle it is as a team, as one united front. Regardless of the circumstance, work together to get back to where you need to be as a family. If one spouse made a big mistake, they may need even more encouraging words to motivate them to continue pressing forward. Decide to point your words towards the future. Don’t focus on past mistakes…focus on what could be and should be for the future of your growing relationship.
Effort
The dictionary defines effort as a conscious exertion of power, hard work or effective force to achieve a particular end (www.merriam-webster.com). Make no mistake about it, great marriages require great communication. Moreover, great communication requires great effort. You have to work hard at building up your spouse. Making every effort involves stretching way beyond your comfort zone. Don’t just wish to have a great marriage…do something to make it great today!
You can have a marriage filled with love, laughter, peace and purpose, but it will call for your maximim effort. If you’ve always said things a particular way, just stop! Consider the cost, and maybe even the pain involved from playing the victim for all of these years. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to sweat. Marriage is not for the fainthearted and it is not for the weak. Make a conscious effort to deliver words that lay a strong foundation for a growing marriage.
Attitude
It has often been said, “Your attitude determines your altitude.” Having the right attitude about your mate will make a significant difference in your ability to build up your marriage. Among other things, it will influence what you say and the tone of your verbal delivery. How you deliver information to your mate is very important. Being “right” on a particular subject does not give you the green light to use sarcasm, insults, negative reminders of past mistakes or other forms of destructive communication. Being “right” is never a ticket to reduce the self-worth of your spouse.
Make it a goal to speak from a heart of humility and gratitude. When you demostrate humility, you’re not proud, arrogant or manipulative. You don’t make unreasonable demands and you certainly don’t raise your voice in anger. Speaking from a humble heart involves prefering your mate and looking out for their needs before considering your own. It means that first and foremost, you’re concerned about the impact your words will have on your spouse. You want the absolute best for them and will deny yourself of demonstrating anything that could be percieved as hurtful.
Speaking to build flows from a heart filled with gratitude. When was the last time you told your spouse how greatful you were for their presence? When was the last time you publically announced just how much you appreciated them? When others know how much you cherish and appreciate your spouse, it will encourage them to do the same in their own marriage. Good habbits are contagious, especially those that build up others.
Knowledge
Many couples allow frustration levels to build within their marriage as a result of not having the right information. When trust has been violated, making the wrong assumptions is always easier then doing your homework to get the right information. Make sure you gather all of the facts before jumping off of the assumption horse. When you assume the worst about your spouse you often lose. Having the right knowledge will avoid many unnecessary arguments and give you more tools to build up one another.
Learning to speak to build involves collecting the right information to help you continue in your journey towards a healthy marriage. When speaking with your spouse about an unfamiliar subject, be thorough in your approach to answer the important questions (who, what, where, when, why and how). Keep learning and you’ll keep growing in your marriage. Get to know your mate like never before. Explore the depths of their heart and seek to understand their unique perspective on every important topic. Don’t just ask boring and basic questions, ask penetrating questions that force you to dive way below the surface. When you do this, you’ll discover how they’ve been uniquely wired to serve as your partner for life.
